This mountain vernacular estate hidden in the foothills of Vinings, GA blends contemporary detailing with traditional, natural materials. Sited along a private lake, we used extensive brick, wood, and stone to define this high-end residence’s intimate presence.
We employed rich materials to spatially sculpt the interior architecture. The professional chef’s kitchen is accented with a molded-brick barrel vault and custom-made copper hood. It’s joined by a similar arched butler’s pantry. Many species of wood with clean detailing were used throughout: custom, bottom-logged cypress entry doors, pecky-wood cypress ceilings, Brazilian walnut inlays, cedar wall paneling, and black walnut spiral staircase. Outdoor living spaces include a pool lanai, fire pits, terraces, and porches.
Sustainable design practices complement the modern-day mountain concept with extensive use of natural and durable materials, natural daylight, and by preserving the property’s native vegetation, including a gracious magnolia next to the breakfast nook.
